MADISON — A Skowhegan man was killed this morning when his motorcycle was struck by a sport utility vehicle on state Route 148 at Blackwell Hill Road.

Michael Dyer Jr., 45, was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene just after 8:40 a.m., according to Detective Lt. Carl E. Gottardi II of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department. Dyer was not wearing a helmet.

Dyer was traveling toward Madison on a blue 1982 Honda motorcycle when it was hit by a gray, 2004 Dodge Durango, which was traveling east toward U.S. Route 201.

The 17-year-old driver of the Durango has not been identified because he is under 18.

Gottardi said the accident is under investigation and the results will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office, which is routine in fatal accidents.
