I think it’s stupid, disgusting and disgraceful Augusta can’t find $40,000 to fund the Bicentennial Park swim area.

Wasn’t that what all the massive mall overdevelopments here a few years ago were for? You know — tax revenue, so we could throw a recreational bone to the citizens of Augusta?

There have been good things here since then, but it’s idiotic to build that up, all nice-like, and then close it for the summer.

On the federal level: Barack Obama doubles the Afghan war overnight, which is now at $2 billion every week. Bernie Sanders, the otherwise Great Progressive, courts fighter jets — the most expensive in history at $120 million apiece — to Vermont and calls it a coup, despite the noise and airport runway restrictions. They’ll sit on a runway somewhere, mostly useless.

Then they all tell us how broke we are, with 48 percent of the world’s military spending, 21 years after the Cold War ended, and 23 percent of the world’s prison population, with just 5 percent of the world’s population. Privatized prisons say, “the more the merrier. “

This is all bad, and the Republicans would make it even worse.

This country hasn’t so much gone to hell as it has the military/prison complex.

If these little facts don’t fill you with rage, you have a problem.

Or, maybe you hate swimming.
