LAGRANGE — A police standoff at a home in Lagrange has ended with the arrest of a man, but many of the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s office says police were at the home on Brimstone Road for at least eight hours on Thursday. The incident began after the man, who has not been identified, was accused of assaulting a woman in Orono.

Authorities said the suspect’s father and a child were in the home when the standoff began, but were able to get out.

The suspect also apparently left the home at some point during the incident, but later turned himself into police.
