SKOWHEGAN — Skowhegan Area High School graduate Heather Tory, M.D., is one of four doctors to receive a Harvard Medical School fellowship in patient safety and quality, established by Harvard and academic teaching institutions.

A fellow in pediatric rheumatology at Children’s Hospital Boston, Tory graduated from Middlebury College and received her M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, followed by a pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

She is the daughter of Richard Tory and Emilie van Eeghen, of Canaan.

Tory hopes to improve quality of life and outcome measures in pediatric patients with rheumatic disease during her fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

The fellowship represents a collaboration of quality and safety leaders across the Harvard medical institutions. During the course of the program, fellows will rotate to affiliated community-hospitals, office practices, and clinics, according to a release.
