WOONSOCKET, R.I. — A man who once claimed he could help the FBI recover $300 million in stolen art is accused of robbing two women outside a Woonsocket convenience store.
The Providence Journal reports Myles Connor Jr. is being held without bail after his arrest last week on an armed robbery charge
Police say Connor and a girlfriend, 48-year-old Susan King, both of Blackstone, Mass. stole a cell phone from the victims. He allegedly told police one of the women owed him money.
It was not immediately clear if Connor has hired a lawyer.
Connor, a convicted art thief, gained a level of infamy in 1997 after he and another man asked the FBI for $5 million to help recover 13 masterpieces stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.
