I urge Democrats to support Alan Kelley for district attorney for Kennebec and Somerset counties in a special election to be held Sunday.
Kelley’s honesty and hard work have made our District Attorney’s Office one of the best in the state. He is highly respected by fellow prosecutors, law enforcement and defense counsel.
Kelley’s experience makes him the ideal candidate. He knows the job.
The district attorney is the chief law enforcement officer for the district and needs to be available to answer questions and guide investigations to ensure successful prosecution. Sometimes this occurs at the scene in the middle of the night. This is where experience counts.
We wouldn’t hire someone with little experience as a police officer to be chief of police, so why would we want someone with little experience as the chief law enforcement officer in our community?
I urge voters to support Kelley on Sunday.
