As a disabled veteran and user of the services offered at the Veterans Affairs facility at Togus, I follow legislation that affects veterans.

Afghanistan and Iraq veterans have special issues. The few returning veterans who interact with the criminal justice system will benefit greatly from the rehab measures and volunteer monitoring of the Veterans Court. The court saves taxpayer dollars, and Maine’s large veteran population benefits greatly.

The VFW state convention honored Rep. Maeghan Maloney, D-Augusta, for her sponsorship of this bill and her tireless advocacy for veterans. The energy and ability that made the Veterans Court a reality, Maloney will bring to the role of district attorney for Somerset and Kennebec counties.

I support Maloney for district attorney, and urge voters to put her skills to work in our justice system.
