We had the pleasure of attending the annual presentation of the Acadia Wind Ensemble at the Messalonskee Performing Arts Center in Oakland on June 29.
This talented group, conducted by Anthony Maiello from George Mason University, consists of about 70 Maine musicians who volunteer to perform.
The program was wonderful, with Maiello previewing each piece before performing to assist the audience in understanding the score.
Unfortunately, the auditorium had many empty seats; I encourage the community to watch for this event next year.
This is on my permanent calendar for summer attendance. We all should support the arts in Maine.
