FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Office of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, 138 Pleasant St. will offer a three-hour food preservation workshop from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9. Felicia Dumont, Cooperative Extension Food Preservation Program Aide, will teach the class. Cost is $12.
Participants can learn the basics of canning and freezing, including how to use pressure canners and water bath canners, to preserve pickles, jam, and vegetables. Bring a potholder to the workshop. Fresh produce and canning jars will be provided.
Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. The maximum number of workshop participants is 10. The minimum number is 8. Deadline to register is Aug. 3.
