GARDINER — Dennis Meehan had a double and a single and Gardiner held on to beat Franklin County 4-2 in an American Legion baseball Zone 2 game Thursday night.
Kyle Fletcher allowed one run in five innings to earn the victory. He also had a pair of singles for Gardiner (11-2). Meehan came on in the sixth and earned the save.
Franklin County dropped to 5-8.
Junior Legion
Fairfield Post 14 9, Gray-New Gloucester 5: Ben Frazee had two singles and three RBIs and Alex Chelsey hit a grand slam to lead Fairfield Post 14.
Joel LeClair had two singles and drove in a run for Fairfield (14-11-1).
Thomas Wood had two singles and an RBI for Gray-New Gloucester (4-6).
Yarmouth 8, Somerset 6: Yarmouth scored a pair of runs in the seventh to break a 6-6 tie and win a back-and-forth game in Skowhegan.
Somerset (6-5) led 3-1, but Yarmouth came back for a 6-3 lead before Somerset tied the score with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Jordan Brown doubled and singled for Yarmouth (8-5). Mark Brown added two singles.
