FAIRFIELD — Dr. Alton McClamma, senior pastor of Riverside Assembly, will welcome Dr. David R. Wood as the key speaker at the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday.

He will speak on the subject of timidity.

Wood and his wife Patricia “Patti” (Snow), formerly Maine residents, now reside in Texas where he has a private internal medicine practice in San Antonio. They are founders of Eastern Gate Ministries International, Inc.

Wood has authored two books, “Awake, Arise and Triumph, Book I — God’s Original Intent” and “Awake, Arise and Triumph, Book II — God’s Road to Redemption.”

Church upgrades heat pump system

WINTHROP — The Winthrop United Methodist Church has recently installed a new heat pump system in the sanctuary to provide heating and cooling in a more energy and cost efficient way, according to a news release.

The new heat pumps will significantly lower heating costs, particularly in the spring and fall months.

“The added benefit is a cool and comfortable sanctuary in the summer,” Pastor Ned Crockett said in the release.

Sunday worship is at 9:30 a.m. through Sept. 2. Beginning Sept. 9, worship will begin at 10 a.m. following 9 a.m. Sunday school.

Gospel concert begins at 7 tonight

Bible school begins Monday

SOMERVILLE — A vacation Bible school will take place from 9 a.m. to noon July 16-20 at South Somerville Baptist Church, corner of Route 17 and Hewett Road.
