PENSACOLA, Fla. — Benjamin Andrew Farnsworth of Vassalboro, Maine, a 2011 graduate of Gardiner Area High School, has graduated from the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. He has attained the rank of airman and is an aircrew survival equipmentman. He is currently stationed at Naval Air Station at Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Wash.

Farnsworth also graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Great Lakes Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

He is the son of Rick and Kim St. Amand of Vassalboro and of John Farnsworth of Plaistow, N.H., formerly of South Gardiner, Maine.

Tibbetts graduates from basic training

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Army Reserve Pvt. Roseanna M. Tibbetts has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia.

Tibbetts is the daughter of Peter and Gail Tibbetts of Chelsea, Maine. She is a 2011 graduate of Cony High School, Augusta, Maine.

Army National Guard promotes soldiers

AUGUSTA — The Maine Army National Guard has announced the following promotions:

April Stultz of Richmond, 1035TH Engineer Detachment Survey & Design, to the rank of staff sergeant; Tracy Jipson of Augusta, 120th Regional Support Group, staff sergeant; Zachary Pelletier of Pittston, 262nd Engineer Company, specialist; Luke Perry of Augusta, 251st Engineer Co. (Sapper), specialist.

Robbins graduates, commissioned in Army

NORTHFIELD, Vt. — Devin P. Robbins of Monmouth, Maine, recently graduated from Norwich University with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences/criminal justice. A four-year dean’s list student, Robbins graduated magna cum laude. He was also a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society.

Robbins was also commissioned as a second lieutenant with the Army. He received his 1st Salute and Traditional Silver Dollar exchange from his grandfather Ronaldo Morneault, a retired Army National Guard staff sergeant. He is the son of Dean and Colette Robbins of Monmouth and grandson of Ronaldo and Jeanne Morneault of Auburn, Maine, and Rose Robbins of Lewiston, Maine.

Knowles serving tour in Afghanistan

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Army Pfc. Christopher Knowles of Augusta, Maine, has been serving with the 428th Survey and Design Team, based out of Londonderry, in southern Afghanistan since mid-December, 2011.

He is a member of a three-man surveying team that arrives at the scene of construction projects to begin the first phase of work.

Knowles has six years with the Army Reserves and is serving his first tour oversees.
