MONTVILLE — The town of Montville will celebrate its 36th annual field day Saturday, Aug. 11. The event will benefit the Volunteer Fire Department.

Events begin with the 9 a.m. 2-mile road race. Registration will be prior to the event. The race starts at the intersection of Route 220 and the Center Road.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Everyone is invited to bring something for the lineup. Lineup on the Center Road at the intersection of North Ridge and Morrill Roads.

A chicken barbecue and potluck will follow. Anyone wishing to donate to the potluck can call Karen York at 382-3077 or email kayork47@gmail.com.

There will also be children’s sack races, games and wagon rides provided by Clayton Larrabee. Judges are needed for the cake contest; participants can sign up at the booth. Winners will be named in two categories: best-looking entry and best-tasting entry. Prizes will be awarded.

Drawings for the Chinese auction will start at 2:30 p.m. Community members and local artists and businesses are welcome to donate items to be auctioned. For more information, call Karen York at 382-3077.

Woodsmen’s competition events will start at 3 p.m. There are many categories and age groups to enter. Sign-up begins on the field before the event.

Any local vendors or community members who wish to set up a table to sell items may do so free of charge. This event will be held rain or shine.
