An editorial from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “ERA still needs to be added to Constitution,” reprinted in the newspaper on July 25 discussed ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.

I think just three more states are needed for it to become part of the Constitution. Why should there be a time limit?

The 27th Amendment, the one about congressional pay increases, took 203 years. James Madison introduced it to the First Congress in 1789. It wasn’t ratified until 1992.
