PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded left-handed reliever Craig Breslow to the Boston Red Sox for veteran outfielder Scott Podsednik and pitcher Matt Albers.

The deal was announced Tuesday by Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers.

Albers is a 29-year-old right-hander who had a 2-0 record and 2.29 ERA in 40 relief appearances this season for Boston.

The 36-year-old Podsednik played 19 games for the Red Sox this year and hit .387 with one home run, seven RBIs and six stolen bases.

Podsednick has played 1,035 major league games in a career that began in 2001 with Seattle. He also has played for Milwaukee, Colorado, Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 31-year-old Breslow was 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 40 games with Arizona this season.
