AUGUSTA — A Sabattus man was injured Monday morning when he was reportedly struck by a pickup truck while driving a motorcycle on Western Avenue.

David Perry, 30, was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with abrasions, said Augusta Police Sgt. Christopher Shaw. A MaineGeneral spokesman said Perry was treated and released. Perry was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the truck, Misty Emmert, 30, of Auburn, was not hurt.

The crash occurred around 10:20 a.m., near Pizza Hut, as Perry was driving a 2002 Ducati 900 on Western Avenue. Emmert, driving a 2006 Honda Ridgeline, made a left turn out of Amherst Street, across both eastbound lanes, to head west on Western Avenue and didn’t see Perry, Shaw said. The Ridgeline hit the motorcycle, sending Perry to the pavement.

A witness to the crash said Emmert looked both ways before making the turn, Shaw said.
Emmert was issued a summons charging her with failure to provide proof of insurance.
