Police: Sidney man raped girl, 4
Eric L. Bard, 22, was arrested Friday and made an initial court appearance via video at Waterville District Court Monday afternoon. There, a judge increased the initial bail set in the arrest warrant to $100,000 cash.

For-profit education industry hit, Senate panel says McKernan board’s figures excessive
WASHINGTON -- A Senate committee investigation critical of the for-profit higher education industry found that Education Management Corp., the company whose board of directors is headed by former Maine Gov. John McKernan, had withdrawal rates higher than most of the more than two-dozen institutions studied in the report.
