Dog agility competition set for this weekend
SKOWHEGAN — More than 100 dogs and their handlers will compete from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, July 27-29, at the Skowhegan State Fairgrounds at a two-ring agility trial. The trial is hosted by Eastern Maine Agility Club and sanctioned by Canine Performance Events. Dog-and-handler teams will compete in games at all levels that include Snooker, Wildcard, Fullhouse and Jumpers, as well as Standard courses. Championship ribbons will be awarded.
UMF’s Prescott Field becomes pet-friendly
FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington’s Prescott Field has long been a favorite place for locals to exercise their dogs, but the droppings left behind have posed a sanitary problem for athletes using the field and a cleanup chore for the groundskeepers.
Montville field day planned for Aug. 11

Cooking workshop offered July 26
WATERVILLE — Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area will join Barrel’s Community Market to offer the first of a monthly bereavement workshop series, Cooking Simply with the Seasons, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area Community Center, 304 Main St. The event is open to anyone in the community who has experienced the loss of a loved one.
