WATERVILLE — Police on Tuesday arrested a woman believed to have been an accomplice June 12 in a Walmart pharmacy robbery here.

Alexandrea Wysote, 23, of 44 Sheldon St., Farmingdale, was arrested at her home by Waterville Detective Christopher Paradis.

Her boyfriend, Shawn Michael Merrill, 26, was arrested June 15 in Chelsea and charged with the Waterville Walmart robbery and four other pharmacy robberies in Maine and Connecticut.

Wysote, who has a child with Merrill, is alleged to have driven the getaway vehicle in the June 12 Walmart robbery.

“She was the operator of the motor vehicle that brought him to Walmart, knowing what he was doing in there, and waited about an hour in the parking lot until he came out,” Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.

Wysote on Tuesday was taken to the Kennebec County jail in Augusta, where Merrill was also being held.

She was charged with Class B robbery and faces up to a $20,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison, according to Rumsey. Her bail is $5,000 cash or $25,000 single-surety bail.

She is scheduled to appear at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 25 in Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta.

Paradis said Merrill took 47 oxycodone pills in the Walmart robbery and each pill was 15 milligrams, Rumsey said. He said he was told some of the pills were ingested later and some were sold. None was recovered.

Walmart surveillance video of the June 12 robbery shows a man at the pharmacy counter. Police at the time said the robber told the pharmacist he had a gun, but Paradis said Merrill did not actually have one.

Merrill was arrested June 15 in Chelsea after he crashed his motorcycle during a chase with police, just three hours after he allegedly robbed the Rite Aid pharmacy in Fairfield. Police at the time said they believed he also was responsible for a robbery June 12 at Goggins IGA in Randolph.

Meanwhile, police in Connecticut say they believe he is responsible for the June 7 robbery of a Walgreens pharmacy in Killingly and a June 10 robbery at a CVS pharmacy in Plainfield, and they plan to extradite him later.

Rumsey said Paradis went Tuesday to Wysote’s home in Farmingdale with Detective Alan Perkins after gathering information from multiple sources and establishing probable cause to charge her with robbery.

“I think it shows a level of tenacity that we appreciate — and we hope the community appreciates — that we take these crimes very seriously,” Rumsey said, “and we’re going to keep digging until we bring them to a successful conclusion.”
