EMBDEN — The Embden Pond Association and Carrebec High School will host day on the pond at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, on Embden Pond. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 12.

The event will be headed by Michael Whitmore, along with Carrabec High School teacher Sue Hellewell. Students and members of the association will conduct a survey of Embden Pond for invasive plants via boats and kayaks, according to a news release.

All participants attended a seminar in June, sponsored by the Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program. Students will be equipped with viewers for seeing and identifying plant and cameras. Lunch will be provided by the association after the survey. When school begins, the students will compile their findings and a report will be completed.

The association asks the public to be aware of participants. Also, please do not disturb buoy markers that will be placed around the pond a few days before the event, according to the release.
