On July 21, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Madison Legion put on a benefit supper and dance for homeless veterans.

It was a very good meal and they all worked hard to prepare it.

What wasn’t right was that hardly anyone attended. To me, this was awfully sad for our veterans, who are homeless and need the people’s help.

If there were no veterans, we would not be breathing free air.

I am the wife, daughter, cousin of veterans and I am proud of each and every one of them.

The problem is people do not appreciate what the veterans have done for us.

When people go to sleep at night, they should be thankful they have a bed; some veterans don’t. Veterans deserve more help than they are getting; they haven’t asked to be homeless. They all deserve our help.
