The long-running farce that Maine’s current governor has become threatens to overwhelm rational debate with its ridiculous excess.
Recently, of course, Paul LePage spewed out mind-boggling, offensive invective, comparing the IRS to the Gestapo. And now he blithely claims that Maine students are “looked down upon” everywhere in the U.S.
Does he imagine that such bizarre (but unfortunately representative) comments constitute an effective strategy for promoting the state of Maine to our fellow citizens and to the world? If so, he should resign now, before inflicting further damage.
If he really wants to know why Maine might be “looked down upon” these days, I have a suggestion for him: Look in the mirror.
