EMBDEN — Students from Biology and Environmental Science classes at Carrabec High School will collaborate with the Embden Pond Association Saturday, Aug. 11, to build teams that will survey the lake for invasive aquatic plants. Rain date: Sunday, Aug. 12.

In June, Roberta Hill of the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program and her team trained students and community members in identification of native and invasive aquatic plants. Lake Association and student teams will gather at Pam and Jack Stevens’ home at 2109 Embden Pond Road to survey the lake. Kayaks and life jackets will be provided. Students will use underwater cameras and global positioning systems to document native and invasive plants for future website information.
