As the nation reels from another senseless act of violence, it helps me to focus on what is uplifting in our world.
On Aug. 4, I represented Hospice Volunteers of Somerset County at a benefit concert to raise funds for cancer survivors and hospice.
Local musician, Danny Taylor, donated his time and talent for the concert, held at the Happy Horseshoe Campground in Lexington.
I don’t have the final attendence numbers, but I know the event raised more than $3,500 — all of which will benefit organizations in Kennebec, Franklin and Somerset counties.
I want to thank all the people who worked on this event, providing a bright light of caring and concern and helping HVSC to continue to provide our services to those in need.
