Mt. Blue garden club plans demonstration

FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue Area Garden Club member Anita Patten will demonstrate how to use recycled items to create something useful at the organization’s meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls Road.

Grant benefits local historical societies

A joint effort between Hartland Public Library and Palmyra, St. Albans and Hartland Historical Societies has resulted in a $1,000 grant from Maine Memory Network. The Maine Historical Society in partnership with the Maine State Library provides grants to its Community Mobilization Program, which is designed to help organizations — historical societies, libraries and schools in particular — use participation in Maine Memory Network to develop skills, build capacity and expand collaboration with local partners. The network is a nationally recognized statewide digital museum created and maintained by the Maine Historical Society.

Farm Service Agency provides assistance to livestock producers

SKOWHEGAN — Somerset County USDA Farm Service Agency Executive Director CED Elaine S. Moceus, recently announced that special provisions will be made to the FSA emergency loan program and to the Risk Management Agency federal crop insurance program in order to provide greater flexibility for livestock producers facing forage and feed shortages as a result of drought.
