This is the last season the New England Football Conference will be divided into two divisions, the Bogan and Boyd. Beginning with the 2013 season, eight schools currently in the NEFC — Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Westfield State University, Worcester State University, Plymouth State University and UMass Dartmouth — will break off and play in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference.

Remaining in the NEFC with Maine Maritime will be Coast Guard, Endicott, Salve Regina, M.I.T., Western New England, Curry and Nichols. The league will still have an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
