SKOWHEGAN — A Waterville man has been indicted by a Somerset County grand jury on a charge that he robbed the Bingham branch of Camden National Bank last month.

Paul A. Robinson, 40, was arrested in Waterville a day after the robbery on a charge of Class B felony robbery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Robinson, of Violette Avenue, is accused of taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank Aug. 30 while wearing a surgical mask, sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt.

The robber did not show a weapon to the two employees inside the bank.

Robinson’s bail was set at $50,000 worth of property or $10,000 cash. A jail intake worker said Robinson had not made bail as of Sunday afternoon.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 3 in Superior Court.

Also indicted by the grand jury was Kurtis W. Dyer, 50, of Norridgewock, charged with reckless conduct with a weapon and criminal threatening.

The crimes are alleged to have happened Aug. 31 in Skowhegan.

Deputy police Chief Dale Lancaster said police had been called to Water Street, near the tattoo shop, about 9:15 p.m. about a report of a man wielding a machete. Lancaster said the man, now alleged to have been Dyer, confronted a woman he did not know and swung the 6-inch machete in her direction. He was arrested without further incident.

Dyer remains at the Somerset County Jail in East Madison on $1,000 cash bond, according to the intake worker.
