ORONO — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host free workshops entitled Essentials of College Planning for adults 19 and older at the following dates and locations:

* Fairfield: noon Monday, Oct. 1, and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Lawrence High School Adult Education, 4 School St.

* Waterville: 1 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 4 and 18, at Waterville Public Library, 73 Elm St. Also, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Waterville Adult and Community Education, 1 Brooklyn Ave.

* Augusta: 1 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 11 and 25, at Augusta Career Center, 21 Enterprise Dr., Suite 2. Also, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Cony High School, 60 Pierce Drive.

* Gardiner: 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, and noon Wednesday, Oct. 24, Gardiner Area High School, 40 West Hill Road.

How to participate:

The starting point for all MEOC participants is The Essentials of College Planning, a free interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning, and study skills. The workshop lasts approximately 2-3 hours. Pre-registration is required.
