FARMINGTON — A workshop for creating effective signage for businesses, sponsored by the Farmington Downtown Association, will be 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Homestead Restaurant. A walking tour is planned from 12:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The workshop will feature Historical Architect Malcolm L. Collins from Freeport, and Mike Monahan of Signworks, a veteran and local sign maker with over 40 years of experience.

Malcolm Collins will draw from the National Trust for Historic Preservation Building Improvement File, which demonstrates effective signage using 13 principles of good design, placement, and message.

This workshop is free to Downtown Association members and $20 for non-members.

To register, call Lisa Laflin at 778-5048 or email lisa@uwtva.org.

Participants are encouraged to bring a bag lunch; a light dessert will be provided.
