FARMINGTON — The robbery of the Walmart pharmacy on Wilton Road led police to arrest a 27-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man in a nearby motel room on Friday.
At 6:28 p.m., a woman gave a note demanding Oxycodone, an addictive narcotic painkiller, to the pharmacist, according to a statement released by the Farmington Police Department. She threatened to use a gun, but no gun was actually seen, according to the release.
The pharmacist gave an undisclosed amount of Oxycodone to the woman, who was seen running across the parking lot and into the woods with another person.
A tracking dog led Franklin County Sheriff’s Department officers to a room in the Colonial Valley Motel, located just a tenth of a mile away.
The room was occupied by Ashley Lake and Timothy Campbell, both of Farmington, who were arrested and brought to Franklin County Jail.
No weapon was found in the motel room but most of the drugs were recovered during the investigation, according to the police.
Lake and Campbell were both arrested and charged with robbery and possession of scheduled drugs. They are being held on $10,000 bail each and have a court date of Oct. 26.
Lake was also charged with violating conditions of release.
Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said last week that the number of pharmacy robberies in the state was already nearly 40 for 2012, far in excess of the 24 in all of 2011.
