MOUNT CHASE — Police say a northern Maine man has died after his car was struck by a pickup truck.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old Ryan Bates of Dyer Brook was pulling out of a driveway on Route 11 in Mount Chase on Monday afternoon when his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck he apparently did not see.

Police say both vehicles ended up in a ditch with Bates’ car flipping with the truck on top of it. Bates was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
