WINSLOW — Town councilors will hold a public hearing and a special meeting tonight to discuss revised cost estimates for the police station construction project, which has been stalled since early August.
Last week, the State Fire Marshal’s Office issued the town a building permit for the project, which is located on the western end of the town office on Benton Avenue.
During a review of the permit application, the fire marshal required the town to include code upgrades to the planned expansion and the rest of the town office — including a fire suppression system, handicap-accessible bathrooms and more — which will cost the town $165,00 more than the original $626,000 price tag, according to Town Manager Michael Heavener. The project, now estimated at $791,000, is slated for completion on Jan. 14, 2013.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the town office.
