WINTHROP—A local man who went missing last month has been returned safely to his family.

Winthrop Police Capt. Ryan Frost said 33-year-old Joshua Dutch contacted his family from Hanover, N.H., on Sept. 25.

“They went to New Hampshire to pick him up,” Frost said. He said Dutch was safe and sound.

Dutch had been missing since Sept. 15  when he left his Stanley Road home without a vehicle or any belongings. His disappearance kicked off a weekend-long search that included Winthrop police and firefighters as well as Maine wardens and state police.

Dutch was spotted that same weekend in Farmington by an off-duty Franklin County sheriff deputy.

Police feared for Dutch’s safety due to a note left to his family members.

Frost said Dutch has received medical care since rejoining his family.
