BREWER — Kylee Knight scored three goals as Messalonskee rolled to a 10-1 victory over Brewer in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.

Kristy Bernatchez added two goals and two assists, and Ally leighton also scored two goals. Also figuring in on the scoring were Emily York (one goal, two assists), Lynnae Luettich (one goal, one assist), Nathalie St. Pierre (one goal), and Riley Field (one assist). Abby Roberts made three saves for the Eagles (11-1-0).

Chelsea Richards had the goal for Brewer (6-5-2). Lindsay Nutter finished with 24 saves.

Mt. Blue 5, Morse 1: Mikayla Oswald scored two goals to lead the Cougars in a KVAC B game at Prescott Field in Farmington.

Taylor Hollingdale and Alyssa Williams each scored a goal and an assist for Mt. Blue (6-5). Krista McLatchy also scored for the Cougars.

Golf

Winthrop finished third at the Mountain Valley Conference qualifier Wednesday, finishing behind No. 1 qualifier St. Dominic and No. 2 qualifier Wiscasset. The teams played on the par-72 Arrowhead Course at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.

“We all stepped up,” Winthrop coach Lonney Steeves said. “We showed a lot of improvement.”

Taylor Morang finished tied for second with a 7-over par 79. He and teammate Anthony Owens (82) qualified for the individual championship.

The Class C state team and individual titles will be contested Saturday at Natanis, also on the Arrowhead Course. The shotgun tournament will start at 10 a.m.

Robert Vickerson, of Monmouth, who shot an 81, and Madison sophomore Ty Cowan also qualified.

Oak Hill qualified for the Class B state championship, which is Saturday at Natanis as well.

Boys soccer

Winslow 2, Leavitt 1: Gabe Smith scored twice as the Black Raiders rallied to beat the Hornets in a KVAC B game in Turner on Tuesday.

Smith scored with an assist from David Grant with five minutes left in the game, then scored on a penalty kick a minute later to win it for Winslow (8-1-2). Alex Bedard earned the win with two saves.

Anthony Tedesco scored for Leavitt (2-9-0).

Bangor 2, Mt. Blue 0: Nate Bach and Zach Papsadora each scored goals to lead the Rams to the Eastern A win in Bangor.

Bach also had an assist and Colton Markevich had three saves for Bangor (6-1-3).

Zach Jackson had four saves for the Cougars (3-7-0).

Men’s soccer

Colby 2, Thomas 0: Jonathon Sommer had two goals as Colby defeated Thomas, 2-0, in a non-conference men’s soccer game Wednesday night at Thomas College.
Nick Aubin and Andrew Meisel also scored for Colby (3-2-2). The Mules out-shot Thomas, 22-8.
Thomas, which was missing five starters to injuries and previous yellow cards, falls to 6-2-2.

Women’s soccer

Bowdoin 5, UM-Farmington 0: The Polar Bears scored four times in the second half to pull away from the Beavers in Brunswick.
Kiersten Turner scored twice for Bowdoin (7-1-0), which is off to its best start since 2002. Amanda Kinneston, Audrey Phillips and Casey Blossom also scored.
Beth Lebel had nine 14 saves for UMF, which falls to 6-4-1.

Field Hockey

Husson 3, St. Joseph’s 2, 2 OT: Nokomis grad Sabrina Vaillancourt scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the Eagles past the Monks.
Mariah Arno also scored for Husson (7-6 overall, 5-0 North Atlantic Conference). Carley Denis had both goals for St. Joe’s (6-4, 3-2), with both assists going to Rachelle Messuri.
