BIDDEFORD — The University of New England will celebrate the completion of the new Harold Alfond Forum with an open house and free ice skating.
The Oct. 28 event on the university’s Biddeford campus will include tours, refreshments and ice skating on the NHL-sized hockey rink. The event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. A limited number of adult skates will be available to rent.
The $20 million, 105,000-square-foot athletic complex includes an ice hockey rink with 900 seats and a basketball court with 1,200 seats. It also includes classrooms for athletic training and applied exercise science classes, strength and conditioning facilities, a cyber cafe, conference rooms and offices for the university’s athletic programs.
The Harold Alfond Foundation gave the university $7 million for the project.
The Harold Alfond Forum is located at 1 Nor’easter Way.
