FARMINGTON — Joe King, a Mt. Blue High School junior, recently suffered spinal cord injuries and is headed to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston for a year of rehabilitation. The accident happened in Dresden when a pickup truck hit a ditch and then went through utility poles, according to a news release.

Two events are scheduled for Saturday to raise money for King’s family, which is staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Portland.

* “Joe-King Around For Joe,” from noon to 3 p.m., a fun festival, in-town Farmington at the gazebo/park. The festival will include costumed children, “Joe’s angels,” a bake sale, entertainment, silent auction, face-painting, hot dogs and pizza. High school students will provide entertainment and bake sale items.

* All-you-can-eat spaghetti supper, 5-7 p.m. at Mount Blue Middle School. The silent auction will continue at the dinner, and The Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers will perform at 6:30 p.m., with all proceeds benefiting King. Admission costs $10 for adults and $8 for children younger than 10 and senior citizens.

The community is donating everything for the event.
