Lori Fowle is a member of the Vassalboro Budget Committee.
The Vassalboro budget for education recommended by the school board and budget committee was less than last years. Because the state contribution was significantly less this year, however, the Vassalboro taxpayers had their property taxes increased by 10 percent.
The incumbent Republican representative praised the reduction in the state income tax. That is of cold comfort to people who are not in the top income tax bracket.
The increase in our local property taxes will more than offset the income tax reduction for me.
The tax shift from the state to the local level was created by the Republican Party.
Please vote for Fowle, Democratic candidate for House District 58. With her experience on the budget committee as well as prior experience on the school board, she will make a fine responsive representative for all of us.
