Having served eight years as the legislative representative of District 59, Randolph and Gardiner, I know the important issues we face as a community and as a state.

These are difficult times for our state and, in this political climate, we need representatives who can work for the common good with colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

Republican Shirley Hanley is a wife, mother of eight children, runs a family farm, spent many years reading to children at the Gardiner Public Library, authored a children’s book, was Maine Mother of the Year and has many other achievements. She is married to my cousin, Peter.

Hanley’s practical knowledge, good judgment, approachability and her sound, prudent common-sense is what we need for Maine.

I urge others to join me and vote on Nov. 6 for Hanley, Maine House District 59. A common-sense approachable candidate.

Rep. Stephen P. Hanley

D-District 59

Gardiner

Editor’s note: Shirley Hanley was chosen at an Oct. 12 Republican caucus as a replacement for the late Daniel Bates.
