As Election Day approaches and I discuss the candidates with others, I have noted some common themes about who is best equipped to represent central Maine.

We need someone in Augusta to rein in excessive spending, who has adequate business experience and understands the important relationship between income and expenditures.

Our elected officials must recognize the complexity of the current state of Maine regulatory environment.

We should support the candidate who will enthusiastically pursue renewable energy, but also work to optimize and streamline our existing energy resources (i.e., natural gas).

Additionally, we need to elect someone who will advocate for Maine families and maintain the values passed on by prior generations.

I believe my friend, Republican Ed Goff, encompasses all these qualities. On Nov. 6, I am voting for him for the House of Representatives District 86 seat (Madison, Norridgewock and Solon), and I encourage others to join me.
