WATERVILLE — The Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers continues to use crustaceans to help Maine kids. The organization recently announced the fourth annual Lobster Roll Lunch, held Oct. 12, raised $5,000 to support the Christmas Program. The program distributes boxes of gifts and clothing to approximately 1,600 financially disadvantaged children throughout the state.

As part of the event, volunteers started making lobster rolls at 6 a.m. and made more than 500 lobster rolls in less than three hours. In addition to the work of the volunteers, Cozy Harbor Seafood, Hannaford Supermarkets and the Waterville VFW all donated items to support the fundraisers.

Preparations for the fundraiser took place over a two-day period starting Thursday with the delivery of the meat and finished on Friday afternoon with the delivery of the lobster rolls to several businesses, organizations and schools in central Maine.
