BRUNSWICK — The Erskine girls soccer team followed up a dramatic playoff victory with another stunner Tuesday.
The No. 7 Eagles rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to shock second-seeded and previously undefeated Brunswick 3-2 in a game that needed three rounds of penalty kicks to decide.
“It’s quite a shock,” Erskine coach Ryan Nored said. “It’s unreal.”
The Eagles (10-4-2) outlasted the Dragons (14-1-0) in the third round of penalty kicks, 4-2.
Kelly McCormac, Bridget Humphrey, Avery Bond and Tasha Dutil scored for the Eagles.
Erskine goalie Paige Leary had 13 saves, including some from point-blank range in the penalty kick rounds.
“The key to the game was our goalie,” Nored said. “She stopped point-blank shot after point-blank shot. She was incredible.”
Rachel Moroney and Kassidy Scarponi gave Brunswick — which blanked Erskine 5-0 in the regular season — a 2-0 lead.
However, Bond scored 14 seconds into the second half before Humphrey tied it up on a direct kick from inside the circle with 22 minutes remaining.
“It took us a half to show we can play with these guys,” Nored said. “You get to penalty kicks, and I’ll take us against anybody.”
Erskine will play the winner of No. 6 Lawrence at No. 3 Hampden in the semifinals on Saturday.
Those teams play tonight at 6.

Lisbon 2, Hall-Dale 1: Senior Kayla Angelico scored both goals, including one a penalty kick with 25 minutes left, to lift the top-seeded Greyhounds in a Western C quarterfinal game in Lisbon.
Courtney Martel had four saves for Lisbon (13-1-1), which will host No. 4 Waynflete on Saturday.
No. 8 Hall-Dale (9-6-1), which played the last 25 minutes a player down because of a red card, cut the deficit in half when Lilly Ly scored with 18 minutes left in regulation.
