PORTLAND — From now until Dec. 15, Maine students in grades K-12 can compete for a chance to showcase their art on a huge canvas — the side of a truck. CLYNK, the Maine company that makes it easy to recycle and make a difference, announced the kick-off of the first-ever CLYNK for Art School Competition.

According to a press release, students statewide are encouraged to create an inspiring piece of art that encourages recycling in Maine. Winning artwork will be featured on six trucks that pickup bottles and cans at CLYNK locations in Hannaford stores. Each winning entry will also receive $250 to support school art programs.

There are separate categories for grades K-4, 5-8, 9-12. A panel of judges will select six winners, two from each category. Criteria include artistic merit and relevance to recycling.

The deadline to enter is Saturday, Dec. 15. For entry forms, a template or to submit artwork online, visit clynk.com/art. Submissions can be mailed to: CLYNK ,167 Rumery St., South Portland, ME 04106.

Winners will be announced by Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2013. Winning artwork will be unveiled on CLYNK trucks spring, 2013.
