PORTLAND — The Maine Children’s Alliance honored the Children’s Center: Early Intervention and Family Support of Augusta with the Organizational Leadership Award during its 18th annual Champions for Children event at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The Children’s Center provides inclusive child care for children with special needs. Led by executive director Jonathan Leach, the center has a staff of more than 60 professionals and offers services such as custom-designed instruction, child care, speech and occupational therapy, behavioral support, targeted case management and parent education.

Also honored at the event were Youth Award winners Julia Bluhm, Maya Brown, and Izzy Labbe, members of the Girls Advisory Board of Hardy Girls Healthy Women , a non-profit organization in Waterville dedicated to the health and well being of girls and women.

Other honorees include: Rep. Peggy Rotundo of Lewiston; Dr. Virginia Rogers, director of The Kids CO-OP at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center; and Douglas Patrick for his work at Woodfords Family Services.
