In his Oct. 7 letter, “(Harry) Hayes will bring fresh ideas to current problems,” Alan Tibbetts nullified his own argument.

He wrote, “Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results,” and urged House District 78 voters (Sidney and parts of Oakland) to vote for Democrat challenger Hayes.

Our definition of insanity: In the past decade the ruling Democrat majority increased state debt by 80 percent, from $595 million to $1.1 billion; drained the Rainy Day Fund from $128.9 million to $25.4 million; increased welfare enrollment by 67 percent from 205,000 to 340,000.

These are the “fresh ideas” that Hayes will act on? — measures of compound failure from 30 years of Democrat control. The only sane vote for our families and businesses is to re-elect Rep. Robert Nutting, R-Oakland, to the Maine House of Representatives.
