Book-release

Maine Authors Publishing in Rockland has announced a book-release event for “Two Men, Ten Suns,” a new novel by Camden author Jeff Foltz, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the University of Southern Maine bookstore in Portland. Refreshments will be provided.

“Two Men, Ten Suns” is set during the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and follows the lives of an American scientist and a Japanese soldier. Each battles their obsessions and flaws to win the first nuclear arms race.

A handful of the world’s most powerful men knew of this desperate competition and buried all evidence deep in top-secret archives. Some historians believe Japanese scientists were on pace with those of the Manhattan Project and were ready to test. Truman dropped the bomb to beat Japan to the punch. “Two Men, Ten Suns” is a gripping fictional account of this perilous episode, as stated in a news release.

Foltz has an MFA in creative writing from USM’s Stonecoast program. He received an honorable mention from the 2011 New England Book Festival awards for his first novel “Birkebeiner: A Story of Motherhood and War.”
