AUGUSTA — The Board of Education meets tonight to consider the nomination of Cony High School Principal James Anastasio as interim superintendent, and current Special Education Director Donna Madore as assistant superintendent.

Current Superintendent Cornelia Brown is leaving the district Dec. 31 to become executive director of Maine School Management Association.

Cony Principal James Anastasio is the nominee to take over for Brown for a year as interim superintendent until the position can be filled. His proposed contract would pay him $104,000 for the year.

And Madore is the nominee for assistant superintendent, a new position created in place of the former curriculum coordinator position. Her proposed contract would pay an annual salary of $96,000.

The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Capital Area Technical Center, according to the board’s agenda, released late Friday.
