WATERVILLE — Police plan to give an update on the case of toddler Ayla Reynolds nearly a year after she was reported missing from her Waterville home.

Ayla was 20 months old when her father told police on Dec. 17 of last year that she was missing. Her disappearance prompted searches by Waterville and state police, game wardens and FBI agents who canvassed neighborhoods, lowered streams and sent divers into the Kennebec River.

State police say investigators on Friday afternoon will hold a news conference to discuss the case.

Police have said they don’t think Ayla was abducted from her bedroom. They also confirmed the presence of her blood in the home and said the father and two other adults in the home that night know more than they’ve told detectives.
