GARDINER — Gardiner Area High School’s Robotics Club, The Iron Tigers, are preparing for their second year as competitors in the For the Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competition.

They will compete against 39 other teams in The Pine Tree Regional event set for April 4-6 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston.

The team will demonstrate their robot, “Pacman-a-saurus,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Children’s Discovery Museum in Augusta. Pacman-a-saurus is a driver controlled, four-wheel drive robot that picks up basketballs from the floor and attempts to shoot them into a basketball hoop. This robot will be disassembled in January so its control system can be used in the new robot that will compete in Lewiston.
