AUGUSTA — The Family Violence Project seeks donations of new or gently used books for inmates at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility and Somerset County Jail.

Kennebec County Correctional Facility can only accept soft cover books, while Somerset County Jail can take both hard and soft covers. Neither jail allows books with staples or wire or plastic spiral bindings.

Popular authors include Stephen King, James Patterson, Vince Flynn and Lee Childs, Maine authors such as Gerry Boyle, Julia Spencer-Fleming and Diane Mott Davidson and Oprah’s Book Club titles. Genres including science fiction, action/adventure, and non-fiction, including art books on pencil and pen and ink sketching or drawing are useful. Collections of poetry, as well as books on how to write poetry and songs, and books on addiction, recovery, and self-help are also welcome.

Books can be dropped off at the Family Violence Project administrative office, 83 Western Ave. For more information, call Robin at 623-3560 or email robinm@familyviolenceproject.org.
