GARDINER — Gardiner Public Library, 152 Water St., will offer several upcoming events including a henna workshop and genealogy activities.

* A Henna Happy Hour will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 5. The workshop, for sixth-grade age students and older, will be held in the library’s Young Adult room. Participants should bring a simple design for the back of their hand. Space is limited and registration is required. Snow date will be 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 19.

* Introductory workshops to Ancestry.com will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10. Space is limited and registration is required.

* Genealogy meet-up sessions be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 22, Feb. 5 and 19, and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 24, Feb. 7 and 21. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet to use the library’s free Wi-Fi and Ancestry.com Library Edition. Four library laptops are available; sign up is required.

The workshops and genealogy meet-ups will be held in the library’s Community Archives Room.

* The library will also host a fireside chat with newly elected Rep. Gay Grant, D-South Gardiner, who represents Maine House District 59, from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in the Hazzard Reading Room. Grant will talk to constituents about specific bills they would like her to submit.
